The Fort Worth Circle was an affiliation consisting of painters, sculptors, and printmakers who worked in Fort Worth simultaneously, but separately, during the 1930s - 1960s. All artists in the circle had different backgrounds, styles, and techniques, but all had a common goal… to break away from the norm and introduce different facets of Modernism to Fort Worth while developing the local arts.

The Ashton Collection of The Fort Worth Circle was selected with the assistance of David Dike of David Dike Fine Art. It is an exemplary assemblance of watercolors, drawings, and oils from the following artists: Bill Bomar, Cynthia Brants, Kelly Fearing, Sweetie Ladd, Marjorie Johnson Lee, Josephine Mahaffey, Dickson Reeder, Bror Utter and George Grammer.

The original collection has been enhanced with additional pieces from Fort Worth Circle artists Veronica Helfenstellar, Blanche McVeigh, Emily Guthrie Smith, and Olive Pemberton.
